Only a mile from Birmingham city centre is the complex Hemisphere located: 344 apartments and penthouses over 7 storeys and an underground car park.
The complex was built in 2007, and for the residential podium deck a special design using Pardak®60 was laided. The unique oval shape necessitated a lot of specialist setting out and cutting details to achieve the final finish.
In 2010, an issue with the watertightness of the concrete podium deck, meant that Zoontjens were asked to manage the uplift of the paving, the waterproofing and the re-installation. The deck had to be kept as an operational car park, and so all the construction functions were phased. As the original contract was bespoke manufacture from Zoontjens, each cut unit had to be removed, marked and re-installed in exactly the same place.
