Project

Vlaams
Administratief Centrum
Ghent

The Virginie Loveling building is next to the Ghent-Saint-Peter’s railway station and was commissioned in early 2014. This building has a public function and consists of a high office tower and a low L-shaped building. The 38,000 m² of office area houses 1,300 civil servants of the Vlaams Administratief Centrum.

There is a parking garage under the buildings and between the two buildings is a ‘floating’ square from which the building can be entered. There were some problems with this public square, which features a long access ramp, until it was renovated using Drenoliet® on DNS®. These slabs are highly suitable for public roofs that are used intensively. Zoontjens carried out this project in two parts to ensure that the building would remain accessible at all times. The last part was completed in early 2016.
