Decathlon opened a new complex in Charleroi, Belgium. But this Decathlon branch is much more than just a shop.
Urban sports centre
The 5000-m² complex also houses a sports hall, a bouldering hall, a multi-sports area and a skate park. The roof features five soccer pitches and five padel pitches. It is also home to a fantastic rooftop bar with a view of the city and all the grounds. The many sports partners that are gathered here make this complex very special.
Between pitches
Zoontjens’ expertise was called on for the spaces on the roof, between the sports pitches, that can be walked on. Here we have made almost 2500 m2 of the roof surface accessible using Dreen®Ceramica. A major advantage of this is that it is easy to maintain, something which is a very important consideration for roofs like this.
WORKING EFFICIENTLY
Of course, the sports pitches are surrounded by high fences which required a large number of columns to be constructed in the roof. To make sure that the roof paving would join up properly with these columns, the slabs had to be cut exactly to size. And to enable this to be done as efficiently as possible, we carefully plotted the laying pattern in advance.
